Nothing good happens before 9am
Remember senior year of high school? And when Ms. Resit-Jones so wisely told you never to schedule a class at 8am? It is not until you get the opportunity to sleep past 8am, that you realize just how right she was. I don't know if I could ever go back to having obligations at 8am. I most certainly would dread putting myself in such a situation. That being said, I've only ever had 8ams my first semester and I don't plan on scheduling any more 8ams for the rest of my college career and I don't understand why my roommate chooses to torture herself like that.
One other luxury of higher education self-scheduling is not having to go to school for 5 days a week. My second, third, and fourth semesters were 4 day school weeks. It was a 4 day weekend every weekend - plenty of time for fun. This semester I had 2.5 day school weeks and it's looking like next semester will be too. But cramming 20 credit hours into 2.5 days has its caveats. I usually leave at 9am and don't return until 9pm. Proceed with caution.

Berkeley Time
~ because we're laid back West Coast hippies, we start everything just a little bit late. And it's cool.
~ because we have an acupuncture needle stuck up our collective ass, we decided to make that precisely ten minutes late. If you show up at 11 minutes past you're really harshing our learning buzz, y'know?

I feel like Berkeley is teaching me to be chronically 10 minutes late to everything. It will jeopardize my future career endeavors.

I can believe it
College is breaking my spirit. Every single day telling me things I don’t know. It’s making me feel stupid.

Be cool, go to school
Who reads PostSecret? I love PostSecret. I love how nearly every secret could very well be your own. Sharing anonymously makes it seem as if this were your secret or your neighbor's or every person you pass on the street. It makes the world more relatable and personable and is comforting in that you're not the only one that is on the boat.
This is an actual secret from this week's post. Oh, how true it rings. One of the first things I learned when I began my higher education Fall of 2007 at UC Berkeley was how over-rated it all really was. It struck me that it really was not very different from high school. Aside from the freedom of lack of parentage, but I guess for me, my parental limitations were not that big of a hindrance in high school. I mean, you go to school. You finish your day at school. You go to clubs. You do homework. College is really not that big of a deal. You're not in the real world until after college. College is this brief and fleeting moment in what will hopefully be your 80+ years of life. It's a strictly temporary state of homelessness, and I don't really see what all the hoopla is about.
